Absolutely the WORST insurance experience I have ever had. Unbelievable incompetence bordering on blatant corruption.

    Patriot Travel
I fell ill while traveling, and was insured via the IMG Global Patriot Travel insurance policy. I called IMG ahead of making an appointment with a doctor to make sure I was using the plan properly, and followed instructions for how to find/see a doctor and file a claim. When the normal treatments that doctors prescribed didn’t work, I went back a couple of times, the treatments escalated as per protocol, and I was referred to a specialist. Of course called ahead to get “preauthorization” from IMG to see the specialist, and for the CT scan that was ordered. I did EVERYTHING within exact instructions, filed my claims online, and 6 months later they have paid NOTHING.

What were my claims? Something medically bizarre or my own fault? Was I drunk, riding zebra unicorns out of a plane with no parachute and trying to claim a broken ankle later?

Nope. I had a simple sinus infection that was not responding to the regular antibiotics. Not a preexisting condition. Nothing outside the norm. And no treatments that were crazy or even expensive. It was SIMPLE.

But they haven’t reimbursed me a single cent. That was October 2017. I’m writing this April 23 2018.

What I DID get from IMG:

    Incompetence:
Employees couldn’t look up claims, had the wrong info, couldn’t see claims, couldn’t find a claim within the weird 15 minute cut-off system on chat, didn’t email info as they promised, gave “cut & paste” responses to deny culpability & make the client look like “the bad one” for asking what was going on when the company wasn’t up to snuff. I kid you not, they “lost” one of my claims at east 3 times, and wanted me to “reapply”, WHILE I was looking at THEIR system, and I was seeing that claim and all its details. I was actually made to prove to them that I put a claim in their system by sending screenshots to their tech department, FROM THEIR OWN SYSTEM! Apparently, I can do an IMG agents’ job better than they can from my home laptop. By the second and third time they tried to pull this one on me, which was after 5 or 10 communications, I got the IMG communication system down, and I could predict every response. I noticed that the lag time would simply increase when I asked a pertinent question – so an actual answer could be avoided and I could be bumped off the call/chat. And if I asked about a claim, they might just say it was lost. What were they doing, buying time while my premiums earned them income sitting in their interest-bearing accounts? The LONGER they can hold on to your money, the more they make.

    Insult:
As if I was being unfairly demanding, I was told to “give them a chance to review the claim” and “they’re just doing their job” as a cut & paste response to all of my queries as to why my claims still hadn’t been resolved 6 months later. They got me with this one and I almost felt guilty the first 4 times, until l realized they just said this EVERY time to avoid giving me an answer. D’oh I’m the stupid one here! They would delay answering my questions & put me on “hold” until their 15 minute customer service timeframe ran out. Well, heck! That’s a handy way to avoid responsibility! Simply ignore the customer on hold with a time limit, and then blame them when you don’t pay. There’s a whole set of morals (or lack of them) at work here that I just don’t understand.

My Money, Time & Energy Wasted:
They seemed happy enough to keep my premiums, and to not pay out my claims, so I am now out a few thousand Euros. However they seemed unable to take me seriously, to take my calls, to answer my questions, or to explain why they didn’t pay my claims. They simply refused or ignored me. Over 6 months later, they STILL haven’t resolved simple doctor’s visits, and the ONLY communication I’ve received is a denial for one of the middle claims in the series, stating that going to a doctor is not in my insurance coverage. Uuuuhhhhh… THAT is a new one. I actually laughed when I got that email. IMG insurance the doesn’t pay for doctors. Hehehehe. Riiiight.

I have now publicly warned people not to get IMG insurance, will continue to make sure people know, and have switched to another company myself. The cheapest, worst travel insurance I ever had (TripMate via World Nomads) actually paid claims in a way that made IMG look embarrassingly incompetent. Heck, I’m going back to them for my short trips. I had imagined I was getting a better service with IMG. I was WRONG.

In fact, I found it so impossible to deal with IMG that I haven’t bothered to cancel my coverage or try to get my money back. Why bother? The lack of honesty & lack of service I have experienced in the MANY months since my claims were submitted has already wasted enough of my time, money & energy. It was my mistake to get IMG, obviously I should have listened to the bad online reviews. At this point, I have no more time to waste nor bad money to throw after good on IMG.

Seriously, what is wrong with this company’s system? Why is it that people who work for IMG can’t seem to do their jobs? How is IMG surviving? I can only imagine it is through exhausting customers and keeping their money, and never paying out.

Thank god I only lost a few thousand Euro on IMG, and I wasn’t really ill or injured severely – I would be bankrupt now. I run 3 companies, and I would never treat a customer the way I’ve been treated by IMG. It’s pathetic and embarrassing to see grown adults mismanaging their business they way IMG has.

My heart goes out to people who got really hurt or ill, needed insurance, and got this same treatment by IMG. I imagine some poor older folks who can’t deal with the tech, or people who have no recourse. That is really just… sad. Unfortunately all it takes is one look on the internet to realize I’m not the only one.

I’m not sure who is writing all the nice reviews. Maybe it is IMG employees while they are putting their clients on hold. That would explain many things at once.

Absolutely ridiculous company. Used for travel insurance, submitted the claim and they are doing everything possible to not pay us. They’re running us around in circles saying that we haven’t provided enough information, then we we provide literally all the information they’re ever asked for, they tell us they need it again. Complete scam. Will be getting lawyers involved.

I have to agree with all the other comments. I have bought the IMG medical coverage while waiting for few days for my employer’s group insurance. I had to go to the doctor since I had a bacterial eye infection. I paid my copay ($100) and the prescription medicines ($90). I submitted the claim with every detail and invoices. They never get back to me till few months later when they sent me another $30 bill for the rest of the visit! Now I re-submitted the claim a second time, but it’s more than 2 months, and I see no response. I know it’s not lot of money, but it isn’t fair. Their explanation was that they don’t have the code for the disease (which I included with the doctor’s diagnosis). I chat with their customer service and the woman was quite rude and end the chat after few minutes. Don’t buy this insurance.

Scam. They will take 4 to 6 months to process claim and finally rejects sending note that the none submissions mentioned in claim are covered. There is no hospital in USA that will take IMG insurance.

Avoid this company like the plague. THEY DO NOT PAY CLAIMS. It is a scam of the highest nature. I followed all of their procedures to have my claim denied. Over $13,000.00 USD. I appealed following their procedure. Their info says you have 3 levels of appeal. I went through two levels and was denied. When I followed their procedure for the 3 level of appeal, they didn’t even respond……..even after multiple contacts. This insurance company scams many people and get away with it as they are not based in the US. I was an insurance agent selling this as well and deal with many, many insurance companies. This one is the worst in the USA. DO NOT GET INSURANCE FROM THIS COMPANY.

Just I wanted to share my (bad) experience with IMG insurance to let people aware of issues.
I bought this insurance for my parents when visited USA last year. My mom fell sick (fever from common cold), she had to visit doctors office. This happened in sometime August 2015. In the doctor’s office they did not want to directly bill IMG (of the fact that they knew the claim would be denied, I guess). I paid out of my pocket and thought I can claim it myself later.

I did send claims to IMG in Sep 2015… they raised issues by issues one after another and finally I am in a state where I cannot provide the documents which IMG is asking for from doctors office.. because even the Doctor’s office do not know what it is. And the other freaking thing is, i need to be an inter-mediator between IMG and my doctor office and I need to buy time from my working place to speak to IMG as IMG do not take calls after 6pm.

I am very much frustrated… and am not going to get the claimed amount.

IMG is a big THIEF. It takes money but does not commit to its client. IMG is highly unprofessional and should be eliminated from the insurance market. It is been more than 4 months and till now my claim has not been addressed. They will call several times to extend the insurance and but not even process a small claim. IMG should be banned at once. It is snatching hard earned money from people and not giving service.

I read some decent reviews about IMG so I decided to buy the Patriot plan for my summer trip overseas. Unfortunately, I came down with chicken pox and needed to go to a hospital. Called them to get advise on which hospital to go to which was covered by the plan. The guy said he doesn’t know and “you just have to try your luck”. And that if the hospital doesn’t accept IMG plan, I just have to pay out of my pocket then make a claim later on. How unreliable. What if I was in a life threatening situation and don’t have enough out of pocket money to cover it???

So I ended up going to a doctor instead and paid $700 out of pocket for 2 visits (literally all the cash I had). Thanks god I survived the round of chicken pox. Filed a claim the day before I got back to the state. And patiently waited. They said the process time is 45 days when I called 3 weeks in to check on the status. I’ve called 6-7 times now over the span of 3 months. Almost 4 now and I kept getting the same answer “our claim department is behind and are doing everything they can do process claims” and advised to call back in 2 weeks. As if they are trying to drag it out so people would give up and they won’t have to pay the claim. Looks like I won’t get my money back anytime soon.

I took back my previous comment. Received my paycheck for my claim yesterday. IMG paid for 100% of my oversea medical bill. They might have taken longer than usual to process all the claims like they said but they didn’t try to weasel their way out of paying or anything. They were quite upfront and fair about my bills.I’d definitely consider buying again next time.

I have not read the reviews in this website until I got the IMG insurance to my father in law. What happened is that he got stomach pain so I had to take him to the a doctor. The IMG reject the claim before the medical report and the lab result were prepared by the doctor office. They have a letter that they send to anyone stating that whatever you have.. it is a pre- existing. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. THEY ARE LIAR AND STEALER

Guys, beware of this Policy. I bought this the so called Patriot America Policy for my mother in law who visited us for six months. She had a serious pancreatitis issue and was admitted under an emergency. When Claim was filed, IMG rejected the claim without even looking at the medical reports. They keep calling it as pre-existing. The Policy we purchased also had coverage for pre-existing but they keep ignoring it. We have also filed a complaint against them through Health Insurance department Indiana. but they are international company so they do not fall under the US jurisdiction. Saying all that it did not make sense for me to spend 550 dollars to buy an insurance policy. Be sure not to buy any policy from them. I was taken to their website by Visitors coverage. Beware of IMG Global!

AVOID IMG like the plague. They refused to cover a procedure stating “pre-existing condition” even after 2 appeals and the doctor saying it was not a pre-existing condition. I used to sell this insurance as an agent and I am telling you it is a scam. They are unethical, liars and cheats. It ended up costing me thousands of dollars. They didn’t even answer the 3rd appeal and I followed their protocol completely.
DO NOT TAKE IMG INSURANCE. IT IS A SCAM OF MONUMENTAL PROPORTIONS.

Read all of the above reviews, SCAM, RIP OFF etc.

Absolutely useless, horrible scam of an insurance company. They will review every claim you make as if it were a preexisting condition. No matter how many forms, records, statements you give them, they still will not pay anything for your claim. I have spent hours on the phone with them begging to give me more information as to how I can get paid for my claim and have never received a cent from them.

One big problem is that they treat developing nation’s medical facilities as if they were facilities in the United States or Europe, asking for detailed records of nearly everything that happened while you were in the hospital. These facilities are just not funded or set up to be able to provide sufficient records (ie, ridiculous) for the outrageous needs of IMG. A great way to never have to pay their claims.

After I submitted all of the information I had about my hospital visits, here is the information they requested from the hospital before they would review my claim any further, let alone pay anything on it:

    “Dear Provider,

We are considering a medical claim on behalf of the above named patient. In order to determine benefits, additional information is needed.

Please forward a copy of complete medical records from date you first treated patient to present. The medical records must include the following:

Patient medical history form, history and physical, radiology reports, pathology reports, consultation notes, operative reports, individual and group therapy notes, nurses progress reports, graphic record……”

This is only about a half of the requests they require.

As you can see, it becomes a joke, a very painful joke that has cost us thousands of dollars.

So now I just pay out of pocket and am at least glad I no longer live in the USA and have to pay thousands monthly in healthcare premiums.

The comments here best reflect the rapacious and disgusting business conducted by IMG.

I have to take back everything negative I said about IMG Global. It took a long time, but that was partially my fault, and it was a somewhat difficult process to get my claim covered because I had to go around to all of the doctors I saw and collect detailed information on my visits, but to IMG’s credit, they paid out a rather large sum and covered all of my claims so far. Thank you IMG!

I apologize for the negative reviews, what I said above is unfair to them as they have fully covered the claims that I sent in.

I see all of the negative reviews here, but for me I can now only fully recommend IMG Global.

Once again deep apologies for my very negative comments, I was completely wrong.

My Father and Mother visited me from India and looking at their Fancy advertisement and Family photos in their website I fell into their trap. i bought a very expensive insurance package ( I paid about $535 for 2 months of stay per person). The coverage states $0 deductible.

Unfortunately my father fell sick when he was here and I took care of him in near by Urgent/Family care which is under IMG Global Group. As doctor suggested to claim the insurance after the treatment and gave a assurance that It could be claimed I paid the expenses for the treatment in full. The treatment which is given is for Sinus and fever and diarrhea which he got it here after getting drenched in rain. When I submitted the claim it was processed and rejected for the reason that my father had a pre-existing condition. I do not understand how the sinus and fever as a consequence diarrhea for the matter is a F**king Pre-existing condition. Then I understood it was for the scammers like IMG they investing more on analysis who can relate any diseases to a Pre-existing condition. I wonder they could say even the accidents are Pre-existing in the person’s fate and thus it can be re-imbursed.

I kept calling them and finally Gave up all the money I spent. And wait.. The highlight of IMG Global is their customer service, they are fast enough picking up your calls and even faster telling you that you claim has been rejected because it is a Pre-existing condition. Well IMG Know this basic human science – It is a HUMAN BODY not a ROBOT and any disease comes and is directly/Indirectly associated to one of the organs in human body which is existing with human from the day he is BORN. So don’t keeping give the f**king Pre-existing excuse all the time. Give some of the money you loot from some customers back to some of your customers who has valid reasons.

A message to everyone : IMG can be rewarded No. 1 Scammer Award. Stay away from IMG Global.

I will suggest look for any other insurance provider, I have very very bad experience with this Insurance.
My Insurance :- IMG – The First Helth Network (I brought this insurance my my mom)
    Following are the painful experience
I was was having some medical issue in very first month of insurance term, so tried to book an appointment with a doctor. I called at list 10 Doctors office which I got from The First Helth Network’s providers lookup website.
And I surprised, no one was recognize this Insurance company, then I called to the IMG customer care office and they replied “The information which they have on their website about the Dr which are in network is not updated and they don’t own any responsibility of that as pet the *TC”
If you want to confirm this browse the providers website and try to call the Doctors office to boos an appointment – you will get your answer

This insurance is total scam ! They never pay any claims. They charged $400 for 3 months insurance. They are refusing to pay $150 bill and they are refusing to refund the money too.

STAY OUT !! having no insurance is better than this IMG shit !

IMG is simply a scam. Any claim is a pre-existing condition, in their view (unless you fell and broke a leg, maybe). My father had an onset of severe dizziness while visiting in the US from another country- doctors could not find a reason. IMG -did not pay a penny of doctor visit and diagnostic fees, even though this was not a preexisting condition and there were no signs of this coming. They need 3 years of prior hospital records to prove that he didn’t have a chronic condition (read small print!), but he never went to the doctor in any recent time with anything related, so how do you prove anything to them? End result- he paid the claims out of pocket. Judge for yourself (again, after reeding small print). Please, do not give your money to crooks.

I want some travel/health Insurance Expert to advise me. I am a senior citizen from India. I regularly visit USA and I used to purchase health insurance policy for me and my wife from IMG (International Medical Group). So far I did not avail and help & assistance from IMG, since we did not have any health problems. However, recently, I had an accident (physical) in which I broke one of my tooth and therefore I have been having severe pain and not able to sallow solid food because of the pain. When I approached IMG for tendering emergency dental care, they denied the same stating that only motor vehicle accident and sudden fall etc., are only treated as “accident” and the physical impact I had in which I broke one of my tooth is NOT considered as an ACCIDENT. What a paradoxical statement. Because of the severe pain, today (9/18/2014) I approached a local Dentist who after examining with the help of X-ray stated that immediate surgery is required / removal of broken teeth. Even when the above Dentist’s office contacted IMG in my presence and informed the requirement and sought for IMG’s approval/permission to carry out the surgery. Even then, IMG did not respond favourably. I am still waiting for a favourable consideration of my case by IMG, as otherwise I have to approach / beg for medical assistance from some other agency who would be willing to help me. In the meantime, I want to get suitable advice as to how I should go further in the matter, in case IMG still dwell on wrong interpretation of the term “accident”.

There are a number of options for international insurance. You can work with a broker for expert advice on multiple plans or you can talk with providers yourself. Brokers include Insure My Trip (for trip insurance), SquareMouth, WorldNomads and http://www.InternationalInsurance.com. There you are able to research and compare multiple options.

I have been using this company through a GA for several years. I have a client who needed international medical insurance for her employees. She read in the brochure, that this policy only covered medical expenses NOT covered by the primary plan. The GA and I were all under the assumption that this policy stepped in front of a group medical plan or individual plan; or at least truly coordinated benefits. IMG even states they “coordinate” benefits. THEY DO NOT! WE WERE WRONG!! According to IMG, a person must satisfy their deductible and out-of-pocket with their primary carrier. IMG stated that would cover ONLY those claims NOT covered at all by the primary carrier. They have a definition of “coordination of benefits” foreign to years of experience. Evidently, IMG wants to take your premium and basically never pay a medical claim. This policy is only good if you DO NOT have any coverage AND ITS NOT A PRE-EXISTING CONDITION.

Given the fact that most people now have 2500 to 12,000 deductibles and/or out-of-pocket expenses, IMG would basically never pay! As an agent of 28 years I am embarrassed! IMG should also be embarrassed. This is a policy has a very narrow scope and has very minimal value! Find another carrier!

This company is completely awful! Do NOT use them for your insurance needs. I paid for a policy that covered up to $1 million dollars in medical care. When I got an infection which turned in sepsis and had to be hospitalized in Nicaragua for 10 days in two different stints, I almost died. If I had gone into the hospital one day later I wouldn’t be writing this post. The first hospital stay cleaned me out of money and when I had to be re-admitted IMG refused to pay in advance stating it wasn’t how things usually worked even though I could very well die if I didn’t receive antibiotics. The nurse was rude, unconcerned and pushed my crying into hysterics. The only reason they ended up agreeing to pay directly to the hospital was because the us embassy got involved. Now I am trying to be reimbursed the $2000 they owe from the first stay (that’s with the deductibles already subtracted) and it’s been over two months, they’ve managed to conclude at most they will pay me is $1400 and they need to re-review the documents which may take up to another 60 days. The lady I talked to on the phone was again cold, rude, condescending, and the opposite of understanding. I may never get my money back. DO NOT USE THEM THEY ARE A BAD COMPANY AND HAVING THEIR INSURANCE IS BASICALLY JUST HAVING NO INSURANCE.

Do not take this insurance. This is one of the most unethical companies out there. Even after a “specialist doctor” said it was not a pre-existing condition, the claim was denied (and they had plenty of opportunities to advise me and they didn’t). I am an insurance agent who quit this company due to their unethical and arbitrary practices. You will be wasting your money if you take this insurance and then have to use it.

I I see INSUBUY and IMGLOBAL have been extensively advertising so I wanted to CAUTION those who are planning to buy insurance from those companies.

I am in the US for a Dept of State funded Fellowship Program. My wife and son visited me for 6 months. I have purchased insurance from International Medical Group (IMGLOBAL.COM) through INSUBUY.COM for my visiting son (3 years old) for 6 six months. I wanted to purchase a, what they call, comprehensive plan for piece of mind and went for the expensive 0 deductible one. The exact plan was Patriot America which we paid around $400. First of all they are very efficient and approachable when it comes to TAKING YOUR MONEY. However, when you try to reach them for the services you paid for, it becomes impossible to find someone to talk to.

In January my son had a very long lasting flu with high fevers. We spent days of sleepless nights as a family. Eventually we decided to go to the hospital since we started to worry since it lasted more than 20 days. We contacted the hospital in advance to confirm coverage which they did. Anyway, we went to the hospital. The doctor told the flu is in its final stages so did not prescribe medicine. Total bill was around $500.

IMGLOBAL REFUSED TO PAY SINCE THEY CLAIMED IT WAS A ROUTINE VISIT. They did not pay a single cent! We tried to communicate them to describe the situation but no use.

The second surprise came when my family left earlier than planned. We thought we should cancel the plan since we did not use any of their services. This was part of the cancellation policy. We naively thought we could get a small amount (around $30) back. And you know what happened. THEY DECLINED OUR CANCELLATION REQUEST STATING WE HAD FILED A CLAIM!!! We wrote to them stating that they did not pay anything for us so they should honor their contract.

My final words: NEVER EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM INSUBUY OR IMGLOBAL. Don’t try read the fine print, because they will find a way anyway. Also do not pay attention to the glowing reviews online which are probably written by their employees. OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE WRITING A REVIEW JUST LIKE THIS.
